Enslaved Lives in the Shirley Household
Exhibit Home
There are three major topics in this exhibit: The British Empire, Enslavement in New England, and Enslavement at the Shirley-Eustis House. Under those topics, there are several different web pages. You are free to explore it as you see fit. If you would like to start with a big-picture perspective and move inward, go next to The British Empire. However, this is a visitor-centered exhibit. Please use it in whatever way is best for you.
This exhibit is a living document. We are actively following the research into enslavement at Shirley Place and the slave trade in the Atlantic generally. We will post updates as we learn more and invite you to visit periodically to stay informed.
